mercado de magdalena (2018)
If it wasn't for a border dispute between the two districts of San Isidro and Magdalena del Mar, affecting the street where I grew up, I wouldn't be able to claim that I come from Magdalena. The dispute carries on, and so does my connection with the district, particularly with the market, on the Tupac Amaru square, located 20 blocks north from my parents’ house. My first visits happened as a child accompanying my mother, who knew all her “caseros” and “caseras”, who had an eye for quality and novelty, who didn't get lost in the maze, nor wasted any time. Years later I've re-visited the market with another height, new eyes, new visions and a 50mm lens. It's a colorful and familiar maze filled with entrepreneurship, energy, inspiration & strenght.
