kay quipumanta willarisayki (2017)

Refusing to believe in the western theories about the meaning of quipus and the constant need of decodification, I added a yet another layer of coding to them. I imagine quipus being a tool for storytelling through images, words or even music. The hanging threads contain alpaca wool, silicone cables and conductive wool. This hybrid quipu communicates with us through the universal language of music with the help of the pentatonic scale and the Andean wind instrument quena. Project crafted at the WE_Tec LAB. More.
