short film

from peru to switzerland (2020)

Peruvian women who migrate to another country can be subject to stereotyping and criticism, both coming from those back home in Peru and those from the territory to which they've migrated. “The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story.”
- Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

In order to map these stereotypes, make sense of them and confront them, I sought for people's stories. I had the privilege to sit down with Adriana, Carla and Maria and to get to know the world of their daughters Luciana, Ruby, Luna and Miskicha. This short film is a testimony of the diversity, entrepreneurship, affection and sacrifice that means for them to be Peruvian mothers and migrants in Switzerland.
